The Foundation For Educational Excellence is pleased to announce that the Bargain Box of Hilton Head Island recently gave a new financial award to the Foundation that will go towards the Fall 2022 innovative and school resource grants. In recent years, the Board of the Foundation has chosen to move away from its traditional annual fundraiser “Jewels & Jeans.” As a result, the Foundation is more reliant than ever on the generosity of local charitable organizations like the Bargain Box of Hilton Head. They have been dedicated supporters of The Foundation and its mission to help the teachers and students of the Beaufort County School District year after year.

Despite the extraordinary circumstances of the past few school years, teachers and schools continue to find innovative ways to teach and engage students in learning. The Foundation is so appreciative of the Bargain Box’s ongoing support to help make these projects possible.
“The Foundation of Educational Excellence has been thrilled to collect the recent grant reports and pictures from the recipients of these grants,” says Lisa Carroll, Board Chair of the Foundation. “The reports have demonstrated the amazing impact that these innovative projects have had on the students and schools that received the grants through the Bargain Box’s generosity.”
Some of the projects completed this school year that were funded by the Bargain Box have spanned across the whole district and reached students of all ages:

Melissa Rosen, a Visual Arts teacher at Robert Smalls International Academy, recently reported about her project funded by the Bargain Box entitled “Postcards from Life: Watercolor Artwork.”
Melissa shared, “What an awesome opportunity this grant provided middle school students at RSIA! With this project, students used assembled ‘to-go’ watercolor sets and painted postcards from observation and imagination, drafted, wrote and sent their postcards to friends, family or others. They benefited by spending time creating artwork and practicing writing and the recipients benefited by getting a postcard in the mail!”

All of these projects would not have been possible without the generous support of the Bargain Box of Hilton Head – one of the Foundation’s longest supporters.
The students, teachers, and schools impacted are grateful for the chance to spark their creativity and inspire a love of learning! And we are thrilled that The Bargain Box of Hilton Head has once again awarded money to help the Foundation fund grants for the 2022 grant cycle so that these types of projects can continue in the future.
